We are thrilled to announce the final in-person meeting of the GMOS-Train project, organized in collaboration with the Multicompartment Hg Modelling and Analysis Project (MCHgMAP). This significant event will be hosted by the Meteorological Synthesizing Centre – East (MSC-E) and the Jožef Stefan Institute in Portorož, Slovenia, from October 9-11, 2024.
- Meeting Objectives:
– Engage young scientists from the GMOS-Train project: Foster the development of emerging researchers through discussions and integrate fresh perspectives.
– Facilitate interaction among the MCHgMAP modeling groups: Review initial findings, identify discrepancies, and plan the final stage of simulations and analysis.
– Improve collaboration among different communities: Promote the exchange of ideas and knowledge integration between modeling, emissions, monitoring, and measurement communities.
– Facilitate effective exchange of current methodologies: Ensure participants know the latest advancements in Hg modeling, emissions data collection, and environmental measurements.
A draft meeting program and list of speakers will be uploaded on the GMOS-Train webpage by August 15, 2024. At this stage, we are gathering information on the interest of GMOS-Train ESRs and their supervisors to attend this meeting for logistical planning.
This meeting coincides with the conclusion of the GMOS-Train project, presenting an excellent opportunity for collaboration and co-funding. Unlike previous GMOS-Train meetings focused on presenting results, this event will emphasize active participation in discussions with leading experts. Participants are welcome to prepare posters on relevant work, although this is optional. Active participation during discussion slots is expected, and some attendees will be invited to give short oral presentations on selected topics.
The meeting will be held at the Grand Hotel Bernardin, Portorož.
We look forward to advancing our understanding of environmental Hg dynamics and fostering global research collaboration through this gathering!
