Skills/Qualifications
- Master’s degree (or equivalent) in atmospheric science, environmental science, chemistry, physics, or a related field.
- Background in atmospheric chemistry or physics, environmental modeling, or a related discipline is a benefit.
- Experience with analytical techniques for mercury analysis (e.g., CV-AFS, CV-AAS, ICP-MS) and/or atmospheric modeling tools (e.g., GEOS-Chem,GLEMOS) is a benefit.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Eligibility criteria
Eligibility Criteria for Young Researcher Candidates:
- has an education attained under a second-cycle study programme of an appropriate level, adopted in the Republic of Slovenia after 11 June 2004, and an average grade of all examinations and exercises in the first-level study programme and the second-cycle study programme, as a rule, of at least 8.00 (out of 10) (also taking into account the grade of the thesis and master’s thesis; in exceptional cases where the candidate or candidate has a lower grade than 8, the programme group leader may decide on the suitability (additional explanation) or
- has, according to the first indent, a comparable education attained at universities abroad, and
- no more than 4 years have elapsed since the year of completion of the last study programme of the second cycle or the last study programme qualifying for enrolment in the doctoral study programme. If a candidate or candidate for a young researcher or a young researcher has taken or has taken, parental care insurance leave of at least six months for an individual child during the period from the completion of the second-cycle study program or the study programme with which she meets the conditions for enrolment in the doctoral study programme, this period shall be extended accordingly by one year. The same shall apply in the case of absence due to a long-term illness of a total duration of at least six months;
- age up to and including 28 years (year of birth to be taken into account); the age limit shall be raised to above 28 years if the young researcher has already completed one two or three years of post-graduate third cycle studies without financial support, adding one year for each year completed.
Selection process
The criteria for evaluating and selecting candidates for young researchers are:
- the average grade of all examinations and exercises (without diploma) in the first-cycle study programme and the second-cycle study programme;
- enrolment in a third-cycle study programme;
- awards or recognitions;
- published articles;
- participation in research;
- assessment of the interview with the candidate for a young researcher.
Additional comments
Salary is determined by the Public Sector Salary System of the Republic of Slovenia (36th pay grade).
